The Culinary Chef Tip of the Day

Cutting Onions without Crying

Methods you can try to prevent your eyes from watering while cutting onions:

  1. Cut your onion under running water.
  2. Refrigerate the onion before chopping.
  3. Chew parsley while cutting.
  4. Place a lighted candle near where you are cutting.
  5. Stick out your tongue while cutting (to soak up the airborne chemicals before your eyes do).
  6. Wear goggles to create a barrier between your eyes and the onion’s chemicals.
